PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A woman from Mission in south-central South
Dakota has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for a
fatal traffic accident. Fifty-two-year-old Charity Faith Blue
Thunder pleaded guilty earlier to involuntary manslaughter in the
crash last July on the Rosebud Indian Reservation that killed a
person riding in the box of the pickup she was driving.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - University of Illinois researchers say
that a common crop parasite called a nematode has been found in
large numbers on two types of plants being grown to make biofuels.
They aren't sure yet if that's a serious problem. Biofuel crops
where the microscopic round worms have been found were in six
states including South Dakota.
DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. (AP) - Authorities are trying to find the dog
that bit a 6-year-old child in the Levee Trail area of Dakota
Dunes. Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges says the child was playing
when he or she was bitten Tuesday afternoon by a black Lab roaming
with another dog. Limoges says the dog needs to be tested for
rabies.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The state basketball tournaments for
boys begin today at three sites: Class AA in Rapid City, Class A in
Sioux Falls, and Class B in Aberdeen. The top-seeded teams are
Huron in Class AA, Madison in Class A and White River in Class B.
