DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The House has overwhelmingly approved a
measure to ban convicted domestic abusers from having guns. That
sends the issue to the Senate, which approved a similar version.
Supporters say more than half the 200 deaths linked to domestic
violence in Iowa in the past 15 years were gun-related.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A Polk County judge has sentenced a Des
Moines man to life in prison for a 2004 murder. Louis Woolheater
was accused of shooting 54-year-old Lance Morningstar and dumping
his body in rural Altoona as part of a conspiracy with another man.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The cities of Des Moines and West Des
Moines are joining Ames in seeking to be a test site for Google's
newest high-speed fiber-optic Internet connection. Des Moines'
chief information officer says it already has pipes in place for
running the fiber.
GARNAVILLO, Iowa (AP) - State officials are investigating a
major manure spill in eastern Clayton County. They say between
50,000 and 70,000 gallons of manure flowed out of a broken pipeline
yesterday at a dairy farm north of Garnavillo. Much of it flowed
into Buck Creek.
